My Escape Time: 28:00

An escape room with a twist! You have one hour to solve puzzles and clues to earn money. The more you solve, the more you earn. You and your fellow cooks have 1 hour to earn up to $1,000,000. “Let’s Cook! Ages 12+ recommended!

Was this room aesthetically pleasing?

Yes, it was very clinical with a sciencey vibe to it! As you’d expect! Bright lights and periodic tables! It flowed very naturally too which is always good for an escape room for beginners!

What did I enjoy?

I enjoyed the way the game flowed naturally! One puzzle led onto the next and it made for a very fun escape room. The idea of being in a laboratory could have been played with a bit more, such as creating experiments or something similar!

Was the room hard?

28minutes to escape! I was either on form or the game was quite easy! It not the most difficult room I’ve played but because the clues flowed seamlessly it aided our escape! There weren’t a massive amount of padlocks but there were a few stages to obtaining codes!

My Escape Time: 55:28

Roll up, roll up! The Cursed Carnival has come to town, promising thrills, chills and marvels! There are games to be played and wonders to be seen – but you’re drawn by something much more sinister…

Can you free Francesca the Haunted Doll from the freak show before the hour is up? Or will the carnival’s curse haunt you forever…?

Was this room themed?

Visually this room was spectacular! You’re backstage at the greatest circus show in the world.

What was good about this room?

Where do I begin? This room got me excited as soon as I walked in! The vibrant colours, the music and the attention to detail was incredible. But you kind of expect this from Breakout Manchester! The puzzles were tricky but they were fun and captivating and rather inventive. Some of the puzzles were a little physical and some very frustrating. I’m not going to give away any secrets here though! This is one of my favourite rooms purely for enjoyment!

I’m scared of clowns, should I skip this room?

I am petrified of clowns but rest assured they are not scary at all!

Is this room difficult?

It’s not impossible but it’s by no means a walk in the park! Some of the puzzles are a little time consuming but once you get the hang of the room you soon release that there is a trend throughout!

My Escape Time: Unsuccessful

You’ve been invited to a party at a cabin of a distant relative. As you get closer to the venue you realise you’re the only people there! You’re part of a ceremony you never wanted to be part of!

People will arrive home in 60 minutes. Can you leave before they arrive or will you be forsaken?

Was this room atmospheric?

As soon as you step into the room you forget that you’re inside an entertainment venue! You genuinely feel like you’re in a log cabin. It’s actually quite eery. With a lovely log fire and a bookshelf to be envious of you start looking for monopoly and think about making yourself comfortable! The sound effects are great when they start but are quite creepy and quite repetitive!

Was this room difficult?

Is the pope catholic? My god, this is the hardest room I’ve ever done. The amount of locks and riddles is overwhelming and they just keep coming!! I could have spent all day in there and would probably have still been summoned to the devil! After speaking to other people, we were advised 3-5 players were needed to get the full potential from this game!! But we all love a challenge!!!

Was this room scary?

Not scary but creepy. But I love stuff like this! Think Blair Witch and Ouija and you won’t be far off!

Would you recommend this room?

Yes I would to be honest. Although I didn’t escape I still think that the idea of the room is great but I think a larger team would benefit from it! You do need to think outside of the box to answer some clues!

Were the aesthetics of this room convincing?

Let me start off by saying, this is one of the most visually attractive rooms I have played. I felt like I was in an asylum. Without ruining the game for you, there are some parts of the game that really do think outside of the box!

You’ve entered an asylum for the mentally ill, there’s body’s everywhere, scratches on the wall, surgical equipment and body parts in jars. Now you’re in there is only one way out.

You have one hour to solve puzzles and riddles to unlock the door, before you are admitted to bedlam.

What did I enjoy about the game?

Cross Saw with American Horror story and you have the makings of a brilliantly gory escape room. The visuals, including the etchings and blood written scribes on the walls, the corpses, and the typical things you’d find in an Asylum make up the fantastic aesthetics of this room. The sound effects make this room one of the most eery escape rooms I’ve played. The repetition of music is enough to drive you to insanity but it all adds to the experience. The low lighting made this game somewhat difficult but more enjoyable. Perhaps one of the most convincing rooms I have played.

Was it scary?

Well, without giving away spoilers, I wouldn’t like to take my 14 year nephew in there. It wasn’t so much as scary, but disturbing.

Did it flow?

After the game I spoke to the host and they told me that they were new to the whole escape room thing, and this was a brilliant start. Although it took us nearly all of the time to escape, this wasn’t because it was particularly hard but because the clues didn’t necessarily lead onto the next or follow any sort of pattern. There were only around 5/6 padlocks to open which felt bizarre as others rooms I’ve played there have been lots more. All the padlocks were the same style too! This didn’t take away from the game though as there were other things you had to do.

What would you improve?

There’s not a lot I would improve but I would probably like to see more locks in different styles, the flow of puzzles, more use of the props could have added value to the game.

My Mission

Hello, and welcome to my blog. My name is Matt and I have an (un)healthy obsession with Escape Rooms. Here I will be reviewing the best and worst escape rooms all over the UK and some a bit further afield! I will be giving my honest opinions and my personal rating out of 5⭐️’s.

There will a link to the booking website so you can see for yourself why I am so obsessed with escape rooms!

I am no way enforced or affiliated by any Escape Room company and I will always give my honest opinion. If you have any rooms you wish for me to try out then please just ask!

My First Escape 🇵🇱

Fort Knox @ EXIT ROOM

Book Here

My Escape Time: 54:11

Price – 100PLN PP (approx. £20.70)

You have one hour to retrieve the last remaining gold from the secret vault of Fort Knox.

With this being the first escape room I’d ever done, I didn’t know what to expect however I did feel that the room was very boring, not very much atmosphere as the walls were white washed with full white lighting. I did not feel as if I was in a secret bank vault or that I was on a lucrative mission. Some of the clues were tarnished and very difficult to understand or read. This took away from the fun of the game.

Yes! I had played several games before starting this blog and this is possibly the best flowing game I’ve played as one clue literally led to another. As I previously said it was just the quality of the clues that let this room down.

As I said, this was the first room i’d played therefore I didn’t really know what to expect. I wouldn’t say it was difficult but I think if the clues were clearer it would make the game easier to play.

What could be improved?

I think just a bit of TLC would make this room better. Reprinting some of the clues just so they are readable adds endless value to a game!

My Rating – ⭐️⭐️1/2

I feel that this room needs a little updating. Some of the clues are faded therefore it is hard to read what you need to do in order to pass onto the next level.

My Difficulty Rating – ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not that it was difficult but it was tricky to understand some of the clues.

Would I Recommend?

I would recommend this room for beginners / first timers who haven’t had any experience playing any higher quality rooms.
